Hear Well

There was a Hurricane in Texas this week and it was a lot going on! But one of the things I personally focused on during this time was make it a priority to be intentional about the quiet time. Daily routines pretty much ceased during this week so for me it was a good time to sit still, talk to the Lord, and to be quiet so I could hear him when he spoke back. In my time with him I heard “hear well”. When I heard it, I put it into the context of the events of the week. Follow me, we’re going somewhere!
Originally various meteorologist wasn’t sure the path of the hurricane. Eventually, they agreed the hurricane was headed our way, and everyone should get ready. Be weather aware, prepare, and stay alert. The message was: get prepared to be stationary for a while and get all the supplies you might need. While multiple people heard the same words everyone didn’t hear the same message. Here is where the words lit up in my mind: Hear Well!
Sometimes we listen but don’t hear. Here’s what I mean: google defined listen as give one’s attention to sound. But google defines hear as perceive with the ear the sound made by (someone or something) and the next definition is be told or informed of. Just reading those definitions gives major differences. Our ears are designed to give attention to sound, we listen. But to hear is to perceive and that means we are tuned in and paying attention.
Here's my hope for you: I hope you God is speaking to you, you hear well!
