He is God! Who do you say he is?

It's that time, let's talk! Through my childhood growing up in church I often heard different people use different names for God. It was in songs, ad libs, and sermons. Various settings and various names. When I went on the journey of studying the Bible for myself {more on this at a later time}, this was one of the first places I started. My first thought was let's see if I can locate those names in the Bible and what they mean. This listing is the product of that search. When I found the names I couldn't help but write them down.

Jehovah Jireh: Lord my provider

Scripture reference: Genesis 22:14 (KJV) And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said [to] this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.

Jehovah Mekaddishkem: the Lord who sanctifies

Scripture reference: Exodus 31:13 (KJV) Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it [is] a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that [ye] may know that I [am] the LORD that doth sanctify you. 

Jehovah Nissi: the Lord my banner 

Scripture Reference: Exodus 17:15-16 (KJV) 15 And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovahnissi: 16 For he said, Because the LORD hath sworn [that] the LORD [will have] war with Amalek from generation to generation.

Elyon: God most high 

Scripture reference: Genesis 14:19-20 (KJV) 19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed [be] Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: 20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all. Genesis 14:21-22 (KJV) 21 And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself. 22 And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,

Jehovah Rapha: the Lord who heals

Jehovah Rohi: the Lord my shepherd

Jehovah Sabaoth: the God of war; the God of the Angel armies; the Lord of host

El Roi: The God who sees me

El Shaddai: the almighty God

Jehovah Shammah: The Lord is there 

Scripture reference: Ezekiel 48:35 (KJV) [It was] round about eighteen thousand [measures]: and the name of the city from [that] day [shall be], The LORD [is] there.

Jehovah Tsidkenu: The Lord our Righteousness 

Scripture refereence: Jeremiah 23:6 (KJV) In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this [is] his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. 

Name above all names

Creator

Saviour

King of kings and Lord of lords

Son of the living God

Bright and morning star; Root & the offspring of David

Rose of Sharon; Lily of the valley

Alpha and Omega

Ebenezer
